MITCHELLS PLAIN HOSPITAL
Situated on previously disturbed land, adjacent to a nature reserve and above an aquifer, the site presented the opportunity for endemic plant propagation and a landscape that is structured around mechanisms for stormwater management and recharging of the aquifer.
The reuse of the stone excavated on the site during the construction process contributes to the intervention’s character and sense of place-making. Given the success of the project, it has become a valuable planting prototype for our subsequent work within the Cape Flats environment.
