FREEDOM
PARK
FREEDOM PARK
The project endeavoured to positively occupy a previously contested space identified by the community as a potential recreational precinct. The sports codes, play equipment and graphic elements were informed through the community participation process, fostering a sense of ownership of the space amongst its residents and users.
The river boulders excavated on site were used to form the storm-water swale. This accommodates large volumes of surface water during the rainy season while simultaneously providing a separation between vehicular traffic and play spaces.
