ROSARY HOUSE (2014)

The landscape for Rosary House—a new home for the elderly nuns at Springfield Convent—was required to ameliorate the interface between the existing historic architecture and the new infrastructure. Formal herb and vegetable gardens adorn the terraces that flank the axial entrance to the heritage stone-building.

The meandering path system and secluded seating areas weave between the new residential accommodation and the existing Avocado Pear trees, providing contemplative quiet places within the garden. The variety of flowering shrubs and bulbs provides seasonal variation, attracting birds and insects into the garden. The result is a refreshing, ever-changing diverse landscape that is enjoyed by both the residents and passers-by.
